Garden maintenance company, Essex

Staff scheduling, done properly

Every customer, every visit and every gardener on one screen, approved week by week.

The problem
A growing crew, dozens of regular customers on different cadences, and a rota held together by a spreadsheet and memory.
What changed
Draft schedules are generated for review. The manager approves a week in minutes and the team sees their day on their phone, with changes cascaded seamlessly.
  • Weekly rota grid with drag and drop, one and four week views
  • Generate the next 12 weeks from each customer's cadence
  • Validation checks: absences, bank holidays, one customer per day, slot counts
  • Approve and lock a week, review or restore the last approved version
  • Customer records, preferred gardener, health checks and notes
  • Capacity view and notifications to staff and customers
  • Ask: plain-English questions over the rota data, read-only
Built with the client on their own domain. Next.js, Supabase, Vercel. Separate demo environment with sample data.
Rota, four-week view and customers. Sample data, client branding removed
Groundworks subcontractor

Quoting at the speed of the site visit

Measure the drawing on a tablet, price it against your own rates, send a branded quote before you leave.

The problem
Half a day of manual measuring and calculating per job, from architects' PDFs that arrive at every size and scale.
What changed
Upload, calibrate, tap to measure, price, export. A quote in minutes with every quantity traceable to the drawing. Simple to update for non-technical users.
  • Upload architect PDFs, calibrate the scale per sheet
  • Tap to measure areas, runs and volumes, with zoom, magnifier and draggable points
  • Tonnage from volume, density and bulking factor, editable per job
  • Rate card pricing, manual lines, margin and VAT
  • Branded PDF quote with sequential numbering
  • Jobs, rates, tags and people with role-based access
Tablet-first. Next.js, Supabase, Vercel. Live in production.

Receipts, captured on the spot

Photograph the receipt at the counter and it is read, totalled and filed before you are back in the van.

The problem
A glovebox full of fuel, materials and tip receipts, typed up weeks later, with the VAT and the job they belonged to long forgotten.
What changed
One tap to capture, the supplier and amount read from the photo, and running totals for gross, VAT and net that are always current.
  • Capture from the camera, the photo library or a forwarded email
  • Supplier, amount and date read from the receipt image
  • Anything the reader is unsure of is flagged as awaiting a figure
  • Filed by who captured it, with per-person totals
  • Gross, VAT and net totals across every receipt
  • Filters by supplier, person and date, ready for the accountant
Part of the same groundworks platform. Phone-first capture, shared database with quoting.
Receipt capture on the phone. Real app, client identity and card details masked
Machinery workshop

A repair job tracker that lives on the phone

A machine arrives, gets a number and a photo, and never gets lost in the workshop again.

The problem
Mowers, strimmers, chainsaws and quads waiting on parts, with nobody sure what was waiting for what without asking the owner.
What changed
Every machine sits on a board by status, oldest first. The engineer keeps notes on the card as the work moves.
  • Book a machine in with a job number, date received and photos of the serial plate and tag
  • Reads make, model and serial number off the photo
  • Service log per job, the engineer's running notes
  • Five status flags: booked in, ongoing, waiting for parts, unserviceable, closed
  • Board view of the whole workshop by flag, oldest first
  • Parts lookup against the supplier catalogue
  • Sign in with a code, no passwords to remember
Phone-first. Next.js, Supabase, Vercel.

Environmental services operator

Ask anything about your own data

Type or say a question, get an answer grounded in real figures, and see how it was worked out.

The problem
Years of operational exports full of answers nobody had time to dig out: incident rates, overweight loads, failures by day.
What changed
A proof of concept that turns raw exports into a clean data layer, then lets the team question it in plain English.
  • Voice or text questions over weighbridge, billing and account data
  • Answers cite the real numbers and label every assumption they lean on
  • Trust system: routed questions, generated SQL, narrated results, with workings shown
  • Cleaning and repair of the raw exports, with visible, editable exclusions
  • Popular questions and an answer hierarchy for the team
  • Synthetic data environment for development and demos
Proof of concept. Next.js, Supabase, Vercel, OpenAI.

Peatling Group, our own medicine

A pipeline where nothing goes cold

We run Peatling Group on software we built ourselves. It doubles as the showcase.

The problem
A whiteboard of prospects and clients, and the quiet ones slipping through between weekly reviews.
What changed
A bespoke CRM that replaces the whiteboard, a chaser that flags warm clients going quiet, and daily time capture that provides profitability info.
  • Visual board of every prospect, proof of concept, customer and dormant account
  • One action and one countdown per relationship, flagged before it goes cold
  • Morning chase push and daily time prompts, delivered as web push, no email
  • Time chips per client and per internal category, totalled at pricing time
  • Installable as an app on the phone
Internal. Next.js, Supabase, Vercel, web push.
